Mission:
The Knox County Schools Student Support Services Department provides quality, individualized support for the development of social, emotional, and academic potential of the whole child by identifying needs, fostering positive relationships with all stakeholders, and teaching real world skills so that each student can successfully transition into adulthood.

Beliefs:
As student support services personnel, we believe the role of our department is to:
- Identify students with special needs and create opportunities to reach each child's potential by setting high expectations.
- Foster relationships with all stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, administrators, support staff, community, etc.) that encourage advocacy, collaboration and responsibility.
- Become change agents in the learning enviornment.

- Promote individualized instructional techniques/support for students and other teachers (including assessment and accountability).
- Access general education experiences through collaboration and inclusive practices.
- Develop productive and independent citizens through student-centered transition planning (including self-advocacy).
- Utilize technology as a tool for teachers and students towards future success.
